South Australia Police badge LED light-up sign, lit on a dark wall

New Arrivals: Police Badge & Film Photography LED Signs

Michael's 3D World

Two new collections went up in the workshop this week, and they're headed for two very different walls: the muster room and the darkroom. Same build as everything else here — 3D printed in PLA, hand-assembled, USB powered, and made to order in our Port Stephens workshop.

Australian police badge signs

The new Police Force Logos collection covers five Australian forces: South Australia Police, Queensland Police Service, Tasmania Police, the NSW Police Force and the Australian Federal Police. Each force is its own sign, so you order the badge you actually served under rather than a generic one.

They suit an office or station wall, the muster room, the shed, the den — or as a gift for someone who has served. Retirement, posting-out and long-service presents are the usual reasons these leave the workshop, and they work just as well as a display piece for collectors of police memorabilia.

Film & photography signs

The Film & Photography collection is for people who still load film. Kodak, Leica and Polaroid were already on the shelf; this week they're joined by Fujifilm, Nikon (FM2/T), Minolta and Ilford HP5 Plus 400. Seven brands, one shelf, a century of photography.

Fitting for a darkroom, a studio wall, a camera cabinet, or the shelf where the bodies live. The HP5 sign is the one for anyone who has burnt through a brick of it.

Also new: Cricut Maker roller replacements

Not a light-up sign, but the most practical thing we've added in a while. When your Cricut Maker's rubber rollers go smooth and stop gripping mats, these are the fix — printed in TPU, the flexible rubbery filament, so they grip the way the originals used to. Sold in 2, 4, 8 and 16 packs, in white, black, red, blue, yellow or green. The 2-pack is $13.95.

How they're made

Every LED sign here starts as a 3D print, then gets hand-assembled with a USB cable and an inline on/off switch. Production runs 7–10 business days before post, so if you need something for a particular date, tell us when you order through our contact page and we'll say honestly whether we can make it.

Signs sit around 24 cm on the longest edge and run off any standard USB plug or power bank — no wiring, no batteries, no electrician. Where they hang matters more than most people expect: a dark hallway or garage shows off the glow far better than a bright kitchen.

Something specific in mind?

Most of what we make starts as a request — a business logo, a club crest, a name, an in-joke. The process is explained in our custom light-up signs post, or you can just ask us directly. And if you're after something for Halloween on 31 October or for Christmas, the first half of October is the sensible time to get an order in.
