Ilford has been making photographic materials since 1879, and in 1976 it released a 400-speed black and white film called HP5. Thirteen years later it was reformulated as HP5 Plus — and that is the version still rolling off the line today, still shot by everyone from students to photojournalists who want grain they can actually see.

This sign is the box art: ILFORD across the top in grey, HP5 huge in green underneath, PLUS set into a grey band with pixel-dissolve edges, and 400 anchoring the bottom. A reflective foil-lined backing spreads the LEDs evenly, so the glow stays smooth and bright from every angle, standing on a shelf or mounted flat on the wall.
